New York, Rubin Museum: Mongolia: Beyond Chinggis Khan - Opens November 3, 2006 |

This exhibition celebrates the 800th anniversary of the founding of the Mongol empire. Drawn from the RMA's collection, a selection of Mongolian sculptures, paintings, manuscripts, ritual objects, and masks will be complemented by images of Mongolia made by contemporary photographers Builder Levy and Elaine Ling. The objects represent a section of Mongolia from the sixteenth to the twentieth century.

Mongolia: Images from the Steppes, a photography exhibition by Italian photographer Enzo Obisio, runs at the Museum of East Asian Art until December 10 2006 as part of the year long festivities in 2006 marking the 800th anniversary of the Mongolian statehood. Enzo Obisio was born in Sicily in 1954 and studied photography at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Turin. He has been exhibiting since 1974.

US Embassy in Ulaanbaatar - Because of planned celebrations of the 800th anniversary of the Mongolian State, the hotel situation in Mongolia will be critical in summer 2006. Embassy Ulaanbaatar is already experiencing difficulty booking large blocks of rooms for this summer. We anticipate that late bookings for individuals will be increasingly difficult in the spring months of April, May and June, and extremely hard to virtually impossible to secure during the high tourist season in July, August and September.

A RIDING DAY
A riding day starts with a breakfast at 8:00AM. Riding starts at 9:00AM. As soon as the riders leave camp will be pulled down and loaded by drivers and cooks. They will catch you up and prepare lunch at an agreed spot. After serving lunch kitchen drives ahead to the campsite where they put up tents and prepare dinner. You will be only riding and using your time for the favourite activity.

A colorful, energetic display of the folk arts of the diverse Mongolian ethnic groups, including an accurate restoration of the once-banned Tsam (giant mask) dance, khoomi (throat singers) and long song singers, dancers, contortionists and an orchestra of traditional instruments including the morin khuur (horse head fiddle) and yadag (zither).

The actresses of State Dramatic Theatre perform the play Blood Clot starting on May 19th. The play tells the dramatic story of the Mongolia\'s great leader Genghis Khan (Chinggis Khaan) . A peculiarity of the performance is that some of the tickets have been printed on leather. People and some historians judge that leather tickets can be preserved as an object of art and audiences can keep it as souvenirs. The leather tickets are priced at between 8000tg and 10 000tg.
